I’ve stayed in Poland for one week this month and went to five matches.
Ruch Chorzow – Chrobry Glogow (1-3), Puchar Polski, attendance 3.355, entry 7,50€.
The first day I took the train to Chorzow Batory for the Puchar Polski match of Ruch Chorzow against Chrobry Glogow. Last season Ruch Chorzow relegated out of the Ekstraklasa. They have had a false start this season, but they still didn’t play well and their adventure in the Polish cup ends here.
I think many of you will like this stadium. It’s definetly not modern and there’s a lot of history. Old terraces, old school security checks and a good sight on the field.
GKS Tychy – Cracovia Krakow, Puchar Polski, attendance 6.109, entry 2,50€.
The day after this match I went to Tychy. In a exciting game they lost on penalties against their friends from Cracovia. In their new stadium they showed us a lot of fireworks and there was a great atmosphere (celebrating their friendship with Cracovia). The away fans sat together with the Tychy fans; the away sector was closed. Sometimes you have no much expectations and after it turns out to be a great night. This was one of my best experiences!
LKS Lodz – Kluczbork, II Liga, attendance around 4.000, entry 5€.
The third match: LKS Lodz – Kluczbork. Some of you know the story about Lodz. One of the biggest cities in Poland, great support but there are no results and where a lot of financial problems. Their rival Widzew got a new stadium this season, but LKS still playes in a ‘stadium’ with one stand. This stand was almost full and even in the third level there was a good atmosphere (vocal level).
Wisla Krakow – Cracovia Krakow, Ekstraklasa, attendance 25.523, entry 12,50€.
After Lodz I travelled to Cracow for the Krakow Derby: Wisla – Cracovia. I bought a ticket with my passport. For this game showing photo’s is enough. I have been in this stadium before. Four great stands; unfortunately the away sector was closed. This day the Wisla fans behind the goal sang 90 minutes long. Also an entertaining game; the level wasn’t that high, but Wisla managed to make two goals at the end of the game and have won this game: 2-1.
Gornik Zabrze – Arka Gdynia, Ekstraklasa, attendance 22.708, entry 5€.
Last but not least I have scheduled a match which I have been looking for sinds long time ago. Because of the stadium I wanted to visit Gornik Zabrze very back. A few years ago Gornik Zabrze wanted to build a new stadium. There were financial problems and now they have three new stands. The last one is still not finished and in my opinion this makes a great view.
Gornik Zabrze got great supporters. The Torcida are in my opinion one of the best in Poland and I am happy to have seen them. Unfortunately they didn’t win this quite boring game. After the 0-1 of Arka Gdynia, Zabrze made the equalizer with their first serious chance in the slot of the game.
This has been my third journey to Poland. If you have questions about some of this games, feel free to contact me. I hope I can make some of you excited to visit this country for some football games. Taking the train is cheap, the tickets are cheap, the beer is cheap and the atmosphere can be crazy!

Een weekje in Polen met verschillende wedstrijden!
Ruch Chorzow – Chrobry Glogow (1-3), Puchar Polski, toeschouwers: 3.355, ticket: 7,50€.
De eerste dag reisde ik gelijk naar Chorzow Batory om Ruch Chorzow te zien spelen tegen Chrobry Glogow. Mijn tweede bezoek in dit stadion, waarvan ik denk dat velen hem mooi zullen vinden. Geen elektronische toegangspoortjes, oude tribunes en een mooi zicht op het veld. Afgelopen seizoen is Ruch helaas gedegradeerd en na een slechte start in de competitie is ook het bekertoernooi vroeg ten einde gekomen.

De dag daarna vertrok ik naar Tychy voor hun bekerwedstrijd in het nieuwere stadion van GKS Tychy. Ze lootten hun vrienden van Cracovia. De wedstrijd was spannend; na 1-1 en een doelpuntloze verlenging wist Cracovia het te winnen op penalty’s. Maar wat me meer bij zal blijven is de sfeer deze wedstrijd. De fans van Cracovia zaten tussen de thuisfans (uitvak was gesloten). Bij de harde kern begon het met een groot doek. Later een hoop fakkels en daarna ook nog eens wat flinke rookbommen. Ook als de wedstrijd slecht was was ik al tevreden geweest. De foto’s vindt je via de link.

Via Warschau reisde ik naar Lodz voor de wedstrijd LKS Lodz – Kluczbork. Sommigen kennen het verhaal van LKS. Ze spelen in een ‘stadion’ met één grote tribune, de rest is er nog niet. Door financiele problemen zijn zowel LKS en hun rivaal Widzew te vinden in de lagere divisies. Widzew heeft sinds dit seizoen wel een nieuw stadion. De support is erg goed, zelfs nu. Lodz is een van de grootste steden in Polen en de fans blijven trouw.

De wedstrijd waar het al langer over ging is uiteraard Wisla Krakow – Cracovia Krakow. Ik had het geluk eindelijk naar de derby te kunnen (jeugddroom). Foto’s laten zien is genoeg! Helaas was het uitvak gesloten, maar de fans van Wisla zongen negentig minuten lang. De wedstrijd was niet van hoog niveau, maar dat heb je ook niet nodig als de thuisploeg in het slot van de wedstrijd een 0-1 achterstand weet om te buigen in een overwinning.

Als laatste stond wederom een wedstrijd gepland waar ik lang naar uitkeek. Gornik Zabrze speelt in een stadion met één tribune die nog niet is vernieuwd. Dit geeft een geweldig uitzicht tussen drie moderne tribunes. Ook vind ik dat Zabrze één van de beste fans van Polen heeft. Ik ben blij dat ik ze heb mogen zien en zal in de toekomst zeker nog eens naar Zabrze gaan. Helaas was de wedstrijd wat minder. Dat ze op het einde uit de enige serieuze kans de 1-1 maakte, maakte het wel beter!
